Community Singing Circle & Yoga Retreat
With Glen Phillips, Elyse Grossman and Your Hosts: Mike and Stacy McCrory
March 26 - 30, 2019
Imagine relaxing, exploring and SINGING with friends at one of the most spectacular locations in the world, surrounded by the sweet smells and sounds of a tropical rainforest with an array of wildlife, including monkeys, sloths and toucans. Enjoy your privacy in our modern and comfortable villas, lay out on the terrace, or cool down in the infinity pool while taking in the breathtaking ocean views.
Community Singing is a safe environment for all levels of musical ability, with a focus on participation rather than performance. Group singing awakens the mind and the heart, leaving us inspired and enlivened. You don’t need to be a singer, you just need to love to sing and be willing to connect with others through song.
Singer/Songwriter, lead man for Toad the Wet Sprocket, and solo artist Glen Phillips had been seeking modes of non-performative music for years when he discovered the Community Singing movement. Singing circles focus on short, orally teachable songs ranging from unison melodies to layered multi-part pieces. The experience is a little like church without religion – no dogma, just the feeling of connection with ourselves, spirit and each other.
Glen has been singing professionally around the globe for nearly 30 years and has grown increasingly inspired to share with others the invigorating and uplifting power of Community Singing.
In addition, we’ll have two daily yoga sessions, incredible food, must-see excursions, and an opportunity to volunteer in a wildlife sanctuary. Everything is optional — you can do it all — or absolutely nothing. Regardless, we will all be spoiled with an intimate Glen Phillips concert at sunset to wrap up our time together. 🙂
